Stampede City Mixed Chorus – Calgary’s Welcoming Acappella Community

Stampede City Mixed Chorus is a vibrant mixed a cappella chorus in Calgary, Alberta, bringing together singers of all voices to share the joy of barbershop harmony, community, and performance. Our chorus welcomes men and women of all ages and musical backgrounds who love to sing, connect with others, and experience the excitement of performing live.

As part of Calgary’s thriving arts and music community, Stampede City Mixed Chorus performs several shows each year, including our popular Christmas performances and an entertaining Spring Show. Our performances feature fun, easy choreography, rich four-part harmony, and engaging storytelling that delights audiences across the city.

Whether you are an experienced vocalist or someone who enjoys singing along to your favourite songs, you are welcome here. Members rehearse weekly in Calgary, learning vocal technique, performance skills, and the unique sound of barbershop-style acappella singing—all in a supportive and encouraging environment.

Beyond the music, our chorus is about friendship, laughter, and community connection. Members build lasting friendships while sharing their love of singing with audiences throughout Calgary.

Of official 10 week Christmas Program starts on Sept 17, but we're happy to have you anytime!
Our rehearsals are geared to your learning pace and schedule.  We want you to be able to just ‘jump right in and sing’ with us so we'll always have something that will give you a chance to see what we're about. And if you have a friend or relative who would like to join us… no problem! Invite them, too!

· No experience? No problem!

· Can’t read music? No problem!

· Don’t know what part you sing? No problem!

· Worried about too many songs to learn?  No problem!

When you first arrive, we will give you one of our "Guest Books" so you know what to expect.  Then, once you start singing with us, we're happy to provide you with your own “Singer’s Handbook,” which will have everything you need to be successful.  As a non-audition community chorus, you can sing with us for free for at least one season to try us out. 

If you have a busy life, no problem! Lots of time; no problem!  We take the long view to singing with us...We'd rather you learn just a few songs in any given season and then sing with us for a long time rather than panicking and stressing about learning everything and not having fun.  We are THE chorus "where acappella meets happy," and that means for you, especially!

Our Rehearsals typically follow this general structure:

  • 6:30 pm       Doors open
  • 7:00 pm       Warm-up and focused learning time (Part I)
  • 7:55 pm       Business Break, Tags, & Afterglow Fun
  • 8:25 pm       Focused learning time (Part II)
  • 8:55 pm       Performance & Song Reinforcement
  • 9:30 pm       Optional Social Time
